- Pilates is a movement therapy that focuses on physical exercise to help strengthen and build control of muscles, primarily those used for posture. In addition, Pilates increases flexibility and muscular endurance while helping to improve balance and coordination.
- Our instructor Betsy is certified in STOTT Pilates, Red Cord (ActivCore) and Cardiolates. Her technical knowledge and attention to detail stems from her personal experience after successfully recovering from disc herniations, cervical fusion surgery & chronic pain. Experiencing the profound changes made in her own body, she became passionate about sharing her story and helping others through Pilates. She discovered Pilates as a student and was able to return (after surgery) to the activities she loves. Today, Pilates training remains an essential component that keeps her fit to pursue her other passions which include golf, mountain biking, telemark skiiing, rock climbing and sailing.
- Pilates offers an excellent bridge program after completing physical therapy. Beginner to intermediate group mat classes are available mornings and evenings. The Basic Back class will develop deep core muscles and improve flexibility, balance, and endurance.
